Zim Mushroom Spawn Solutions: empowering mushroom farmers through local mother spawn production

Implemented by Future of Hope vzw in partnership with the Future of Hope Foundation under the EUDiF D4D Grants programme, the project aims to build a resilient, self-sufficient mushroom value chain in Zimbabwe with diaspora driving the initiative and contributing technical expertise, funding connections, innovation and international networks. To reduce reliance on imported spawn and strengthen local production, the project trains 20 entrepreneurs in advanced mushroom spawn production, establishes two Centres of Expertise for mother culture and seedbank development and develops an integrated spawn supply chain to support thousands of smallholder farmers.
