Launched by the Australian government in June 2024, the Pacific Engagement Visa (PEV) programme enables eligible Papua New Guinea nationals to migrate to Australia as permanent residents. They will have access to a range of settlement support in Australia, including migrant settlement services, English language programmes, public schools and healthcare, and financial support to encourage their participation in training and education. The programme aims to deepen economic, educational and cultural ties between Australia and Papua New Guinea to support broader economic development in the region.
