Government diaspora conferences

The Ministry of Emigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs launched its third edition of the Conference of Egyptian Entities Abroad in August 2022 to foster communication with Egyptian residents abroad. The aim of the conference is to update Egyptian expatriates on the development efforts carried out in Egypt and find ways to enhance diaspora engagement for development. In the latest edition, the areas of cooperation included investment in national projects and real estate, civil services, education and insurance for Egyptians residing abroad. The recommendations of this conference are now under development between different national institutions and diaspora groups. For example, a proposal resulting from the conference to create investment instuments such as joint stock companies to capitlaise on the diaspora’ economic capital and facilitate investment was approved by the prime minister and is being put together by the ministry and the national authority for investment in Egypt.
