The government has channelled diaspora investment towards housing projects in several regions, establishing a practice of state-led diaspora property investment. An early initiative in 2018 saw funds directed towards housebuilding in central Burkina Faso, which has been followed by several other initiatives 15 and led to the government creating the Centre for the Management of Cities (CEGECI)to manage the diaspora-funded projects.
