Climate-focused Diaspora SACCO WASH Investments

The Climate-focused Diaspora SACCO WASH Investments initiative aims to improve access to sustainable water infrastructure and strengthen climate resilience in Kenya by mobilising diaspora savings. It channels diaspora investments into projects such as solar-powered water pumps, irrigation systems, and other climate-resilient water solutions through specialised climate deposit accounts. The initiative contributes to expanding sustainable water access while promoting community resilience and long-term climate adaptation. The initiative is developed by the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) and the Irish League of Credit Unions International Development Foundation (ILCU Foundation), with support from the African Confederation of Cooperative Savings and Credit Associations (ACCOSCA). Kenya USA Diaspora SACCO is one of the participating SACCOs that offers climate-focused deposit products under the initiative.
