Building a circular economy ecosystem in Porto Novo

Porto-Novo faces major socio-environmental challenges, worsened by the limited capacity of its waste management system. In response, Gbobètô brings a new local solution through the establishment of two recycling centres and a “Comptoir du Plastique” (Plastic Counter). The project, supported by EUDiF Diaspora 4 Development (D4D) grants, provides targeted technical support for the establishment of a local value chain and recycling ecosystem, which creates economic opportunities around recycled plastic to further empower local waste pickers and reduce environmental pollution. At the same time, community awareness raising sessions are planned within the school communities to encourage lasting sustainable practices among young people.
