Global Alliance for Diaspora Engagement in Reconstruction

In 2025, IOM and partners launched a Global Alliance for Diaspora Engagement to support Ukraine’s reconstruction and to strategically mobilise the Ukrainian diaspora estimated at approximately 20 million globally .The platform recognises that Ukrainians abroad aim to: Contribute technical and sectoral expertise;support innovation ecosystems; advocate internationally for reconstruction financing; participate in long-term nation-building.By institutionalising diaspora engagement within reconstruction frameworks, the initiative expands diaspora roles from emergency support toward sustained recovery and structural transformation.
