Matabeleland Borehole Drilling Project (MBDP)
The Matabeleland Borehole Drilling Project aims to improve access to safe water for domestic use and small-scale agriculture in Zimbabwe’s drought-prone Matabeleland region. It mobilises more than 300 Zimbabweans living in South Africa, who pooled their resources to purchase borehole drilling equipment worth approximately R3.5 million for community borehole development. The project continues to strengthen water security, support local livelihoods. The project complements the Government of Zimbabwe’s national borehole drilling programme.
