DynamoLAB: Access to training – Strengthening local capacities for rural just energy transition
Colombia encounters persistent challenges in conflict reconciliation and access to renewable energy, specifically effecting the rural youth with high unemployment rates, and risks of armed groups recruitment. While the Law 2099 of 2021 requires renewable energy projects to prioritise local hiring, the lack of resources and limited capacities of local schools hinder the facilitation of relevant training, leaving young people excluded from economic opportunities within the emerging green economy.
This project, led by Kunstrial e.V and implemented by Dynamo, seeks to address the lack of accessible, practice-based education for rural youth and women in Colombia by combining awareness-raising, certified training, and hands-on solar installations. Its overarching aim is to equip young people and women with the skills and confidence to contribute to the energy transition, while improving local school infrastructure and strengthening diaspora engagement.
Importantly, Colombian diaspora experts in Germany will directly facilitate part of these workshops, ensuring the transfer of transnational expertise, linking global expertise with local needs. In doing so, the project promotes inclusion, employability, and equitable participation in the energy transition.

This activity lays the foundation for the project by bringing together implementing partners, schools, community representatives, and local authorities. It includes internal coordination meetings, planning sessions with schools, and awareness workshops for students, teachers, and parents. At the same time, Kunstrial will leverage its diaspora networks and cooperation channels in Germany and Colombia to promote the initiative, ensuring broad support and alignment among all actors involved.
Through a 110-hour blended course, high school students and educators take part in six modules covering communication, gender and energy access, sustainability, solar technology, productive uses of energy, and installation practices. Sessions are delivered online and onsite by Dynamo, FUNDEC, and diaspora experts, combining theory with hands-on learning.
Building on the training, participants co-develop technical proposals for solar energy systems tailored to local school needs. Under the guidance of Dynamo’s technical team, these proposals are put into practice with the installation of solar PV systems, giving trainees real project experience, while setting up functional energy infrastructure in schools.
